Caroline Ovadia

Caroline Ovadia is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King’s College London and Consultant Obstetrician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals, London. Having trained under the supervision of Cath Williamson, Peter Dixon and Lucy Chappell, with her PhD supported by ICP Support, Caroline now leads research studying the perinatal impacts of metabolic disease in pregnancy. Predominantly, Caroline’s research focuses on ICP and diabetes in pregnancy - she also runs a bespoke ICP clinic for NHS patients at St Thomas’ hospital and is obstetric lead for the diabetes in pregnancy service.

Caroline has led a number of international collaborations to determine how ICP affects the maternal and fetal outcomes of affected pregnancies; she is currently developing a Core Outcome Set to standardise reporting of studies in ICP and investigating the impact of ICP on twin and triplet pregnancies. Caroline is also working to understand which babies are at higher risk of stillbirth, and whether we can predict the course of disease from the point of diagnosis.

Caroline continues to collaborate closely with Professor Williamson’s group at Imperial.
